The Mothers’ Manifesto is a collective of mothers and supporters who are calling for an end to food insecurity. We believe in a future where every child has access to nutritious food and families, in all their diversity, are protected from poverty. Hunger is always a political choice. But extraordinary transformations can happen when governments align with a commitment to save and improve lives.
OUR MANIFESTO: THE PINK PAPER
We stand in unity and solidarity with all those struggling to feed themselves and their children. 2.3 million die of malnutrition yearly.
Malnutrition is the cause of 45% of child mortality. We will not stop until there is immediate action to prevent the unnecessary crisis of food insecurity. Our key demands are:
MAKE SURE ALL CHILDREN IN THE UK HAVE ENOUGH TO EAT
IMPLEMENT GLOBAL POLICIES OF CARE
INVEST IN SUSTAINABLE FOOD SYSTEMS
Now in our fourth year of action, we will once again hold regional Mothers’ Hunger Strikes across the UK. These local strikes will raise awareness in our communities and call for urgent change.
After the regional actions, mothers who are able will continue with a further five-day strike outside Parliament, bringing our demands directly to the Government. Thanks to our recent fundraiser, we can now support mothers or supporters who wish to join us - either in London or locally. The Parliament strike is optional, and mothers can join for any length of time. We’re also looking for volunteers to help with logistics and media support. Join us and make your voice heard in a safe, compassionate action led by mothers standing together in solidarity.
Kicking off our 5-day hunger strike in London, the Mother’s Day Picnic for Change is a visually impactful, family-friendly public action designed to touch the heart and draw attention to the escalating crisis of food insecurity — in the UK and globally.
Millions of people are already affected, with women and children most at risk. This crisis is being driven by inequality and the climate and nature crises, and its impacts are being felt by families everywhere. This event calls for an emergency response equal to the scale of the crisis. We have the solutions. Now we need action.
The picnic brings together families, children and collaborating organisations to show shared concern, solidarity and a united call for change — joyful in tone, but serious in message.

A Picnic Without Food
The tone will be hopeful, welcoming and family-friendly, while clearly communicating the seriousness of the issue and the call to action. Children are central to the event — both symbolically and practically — and activities will be designed to be playful, inclusive and low-pressure.
Join Us in Ending Child Hunger
Any and all donations are so appreciated and will go toward building our campaign. Your support would allow us over the next year to:
Support travel and expenses to give talks and host meetings around the country
Enable us to support a greater diversity of mothers to participate in our actions
Build further networks with other groups and organisations
Finance administrative help to assist the campaign
Continue to meet with MPs and have further meetings within Parliament.

“No child should be hungry, no child need be hungry if we only assume our urgent responsibility on inequality. Climate change is accelerating this crisis and we need to address it now. These brave women striking in solidarity with mothers should be listened to in the U.K. and around the world.”

“Because I know women really struggling to raise their families because they are getting a raw financial deal from this government. These women cannot take any more. This is why I’m supporting and I urge you to support this too.”
Former Green Party MP for Brighton, Pavilion
“It’s got to be the politicians who get together and start putting the future of humanity and indeed the future of all species on this precious planet as their number 1 priority. Rather than bank rolling fossil fuel companies who are destroying our future.”
